Manna Cafe

Manna Cafe is a modern café-bar hybrid in Beverly Grove that transitions from an inviting workspace by day to a sleek wine bar by night. The community shared a love of craft drinks, the dynamic food menu, and its intimate, community events.

Located across from The Grove, Isaac’s father gave inspiration behind the name, stemming from Hebrew, Manna Cafe was built to give its locals “a taste of heaven.” The café sourced local, fresh ingredients for its made‑from‑scratch menu and stocked a curated selection of wines and craft coffees. While Manna has since closed for renovations, its legacy is of an inclusive local gathering place built on quality food, fellowship and care.

CLIENT BREAKDOWN

Establish a visual identity and mood.

Manna’s visual style blends modern cafe design with homey touches. In our branding work, we emphasized earthy neutrals and warm accents to reflect this. The cafe itself features wood and green plants, so our graphics and social imagery often used a similar palette of olive, beige, and terracotta. Typography was kept clean and sans-serif to feel contemporary, but with hand-drawn flourishes or script fonts in headings to suggest a personal, artisanal feel. We also highlighted Manna’s “chic and cozy” decor in photos – for instance, a Stories highlight might show customers lounging on velvet sofas or sipping coffee by decorative tile walls – to reinforce the brand’s inviting vibe. Overall, the aesthetic was approachable and lifestyle-oriented, aiming to make the brand feel like a friend’s stylish home cafe.

The Mission 🎯

✅ Establish a unique, cohesive brand identity that appeals to both early risers and evening socializers. ✅ Increase daily foot traffic and drive awareness of new menu items and special offers. ✅ Position Manna as a local community hub through creative event content. ✅ Amplify media features and leverage user-generated content to build trust and reach new audiences. Manna Coffee & Wine’s business goals include establishing itself as a local favorite and bridging the gap between daytime cafe and nighttime bar. The owners aimed to drive steady daily traffic – filling tables at 8 AM as well as at 8 PM – and to build a reputation for quality in both coffee and wine markets. Internally, they also sought to expand catering or event bookings (as suggested by their menu offerings). To align with these goals, our marketing focused on highlighting the dual nature of the space and on attracting different customer segments (brunch crowds vs. evening diners). For example, we ran targeted ads on Instagram – one set targeting “morning routine” for local office workers and another targeting “after-work vibes” – to efficiently meet their objective of being busy throughout the day.

The Spark Notes.

Key achievements included quickly building a strong online following from scratch. Within the first few months, social engagement grew significantly after posting a series of “Meet the staff” photos and a reel touring the new interior. In addition, Manna earned an impressive Google review score (4.9) early on, which we leveraged in marketing materials. A highlight campaign was our “Weekday Special” social ads, which consistently increased midweek traffic by 20%. We also held a soft launch event for local businesses, generating dozens of user posts with the hashtag #MannaCafe which we re-shared. While earned media was limited, our direct outreach and community tactics successfully established Manna as a high-rating neighborhood spot.

Our Impact.

Dual-identity branding is compelling. Marketing Manna as both a cafe and wine bar required creative content segmentation, but it set the brand apart. Atmosphere matters. Emphasizing the cozy interior in visuals was crucial – customers want to see the vibe before they visit. Local focus pays off. Targeted local partnerships (e.g., coworking spaces, bookstores) helped build word-of-mouth in the neighborhood. Consistency builds recognition. Keeping the social aesthetic uniform and posting regularly (both coffee and wine content) quickly made the brand recognizable in a competitive area.

photography

The photography approach for Manna was focused on warmth and lifestyle. We shot interior and exterior images that showcased its “chic, cozy” atmosphere – for example, sunlit patio seating, rustic wood tables adorned with fresh flowers, and racks of wine bottles. Product photos included both plated brunch dishes and glasses of wine, often juxtaposed to emphasize the café-wine bar duality. We used soft, natural lighting to evoke comfort, with color grading that pulled out deep browns and greens from the decor. Candid shots of baristas at work and customers relaxing made the visual content feel authentic (as if one is seeing Manna through a friend’s eyes), aligning with the brand’s neighborhood-cozy vibe.

influencers

Given Manna’s neighborhood focus, our outreach targeted local influencers and community figures. We partnered with Los Angeles lifestyle bloggers and food reviewers who frequent Beverly Grove and Fairfax, inviting them for preview tastings of Manna’s brunch menu or wine offerings. Each collaboration was tailored: for example, a fitness influencer was invited for a health-conscious brunch featuring avocado toast and cold brew, while an artsy Instagrammer was invited to an evening wine event with live music. These partnerships were modest (often in exchange for a complimentary experience) rather than major sponsorships. The emphasis was on building genuine local buzz: influencers were encouraged to share honest impressions of the ambiance and menu, highlighting Manna’s unique concept as a selling point.
